BIG DAY FOR SOUTH TEXAS LIGHTNING!
The Lightning football teams were very impressive at the opening day events. Each team scrimmage against other RGVPWFL teams and had a very successful day. Each coach was very pleased at their teams development to this point.
Everything starts with our Tiny Mite team. This is a development team to introduce players to football. This years team has many returning players and some with three years of experience, plus a good haul of seven year olds. This team will be fun to watch and from the glee in coach Hoods eye he feels very comfortable with the way things went.
The Mitey Mites are another transition team but, will have an opportunity to play in a bowl game at he end of the season. Once again this is a team that is loaded with players that have played for several seasons. They also had a banner day against there opponents.
The returning RGVPWFL Division II Camps South Texas Lightning Jr Pee Wee are picking up where they left off from last year. They dismantled teams they scrimmaged against. The Jr Pee Wee played against two Corpus Christi teams, a Beeville team and some of the Valley teams. Only one Corpus team kept pace with them while none of the Valley teams were in the same league.
The Pee Wee team stuggled moving the ball against Weslaco but, Weslaco couldn't move the ball against us. The other two teams we scrimmaged we have very good success. Overall coach Richardson was pleased a the development of the players and will work on areas of concern before our first game.
