13'S FIRST AT IH-35 TOURNAMENT
South Texas Lightning 13's place first in only their second tournament of the year. With excellent team play and determination the 13's came back after dropping two sets in the first game of the tournament. Led by Rachel Bartels at the net and consitant serving by Abril Cantu the Lighnting came on strong in their second game winning in two sets.
Victoria Rodriguez did an outstanding job pacing the team and setting the ball. Rachelle and Nisha Sanchez played strong at the net and forced their opponate into bad passing. Even Coach Marcelino got into the game when Rachelle spiked a set straight down to the ground, ending any hopes of a come back for the other team.
The third game started off rocky as the team gave up nine points to start the game, but they never gave up and fought there way back in. The second set the Lighnting dominated in a 25-10 win. |
